Saint-Julien is a parish church and one of the oldest religious buildings in Paris, France.

During the 9th century, the church was part of the flooded district of the city, largely ruined and in disarray. As a result of the wars fought between the Frankish army and the Vikings in the 880s, the church became a refuge for the sick and the poor who had been lacking proper medical care. Seeing this, Queen Richardis of Francia requested to meet the Breton smuggler Nolwenn in the church to discuss the urgent need for medical supplies. However, she was met by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir instead as she had learned of their meeting place in a note hidden in a warehouse.[1]

While the locals dismissed Eivor as a heathen, Richardis recognized her as a friend and ally,[1] as she had saved her from Euphrasia in Aquila.[2] As Eivor sought the whereabouts of Nolwenn, Bernard offered to show her the route the smuggler took, leading Eivor out of the church.[1]
