Petruccio (right) is going to be executed.

In 1476, Petruccio asked his brother, Ezio, to retrieve some feathers for him, the reason for which he kept a secret. Ezio agreed, but informed his younger brother he must return to bed afterwards. The next day, Petruccio was arrested alongside his father and brother on a trumped-up charge of treason against the ruling Medici family; he was executed the day after.

Following the escape of Ezio, his mother and sister to Monteriggioni, Ezio begun his quest of vengeance against the Knights Templar. Throughout the course of his journey, Ezio collected a large number of feathers in memory of Petruccio, which were strewn across northern Italy, and deposited them inside a chest in the Villa Auditore. After collecting fifty feathers, Ezio was given a large war hammer by his uncle, and after collecting fifty more, Ezio received a cape embossed with the Auditore crest from his mother, who thanked him for not giving up on her. This was the first time she had spoken since the execution.

During their confrontation in Venice, Rodrigo Borgia mentioned to Ezio that Pertruccio and Federico's deaths were not needed; he had just wanted to prove a point to Giovanni's allies (namely, the rest of the Assassin order) that he was not to be crossed.

Trivia

  • If Petruccio's profile at the Database is read, it states that he was taken out of school and spent most of his days in bed because of an illness he was born with. The database entry suggests that he may have died from this "illness," although it is later revealed in the mission "Last Man Standing" that he was executed by the Templars.
  • Ezio's only interaction with him in the game is when Petruccio asks him to collect his feathers. After that, he is only seen during "Last Man Standing," but you never talk to him again.
  • Petruccio never came to know that his father was an Assassin and, had he survived, it is unlikely that he ever would have been as involved with the order as his brother due to his illness.
  • Interestingly, when you look up Uberto Alberti's database video, you find Petruccio hanging in the left-hand side wearing different clothes.
  • Throughout the entire game, it was never hinted why Petruccio actually needed the feathers. But in the novel it is suggested that he was collecting them as a gift for his mother, Maria.
  • Besides Caterina Sforza's children in the Battle of Forli DLC , Petruccio is the only non-adult to feature in an Assassin's Creed game (apart from the brief memory of Ezio as a baby). The main reason for this is Ubisoft's policy of not including children as part of the crowd, in order to prevent foul-minded players from killing them.
