The Seals of Altaïr were a collection of five First Civilization artifacts[1] concealed with information and the memories of it's original owner: Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. When brought together, the seals would unlock a powerful weapon hidden deep within the fortress of Masyaf; a weapon sought by both the Assassins and the Templars.[2]
In 1257, Altaïr passed the seals onto Niccolò Polo along with the Codex during Masyaf's fall, in hopes he would be able to hide them for future generations. Niccolò succeeded and hid the five seals in the city of Constantinople.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Grand Master of the Assassin Order learned of the seals' existence from a captive Templar during his exploration of the aged Assassin fortress in 1511, and traveled to Constantinople in the hope of obtaining them.[2]
