Lineage Discovery and Acquisition was a department of Abstergo Industries closely related to the Animus Project. As the name suggests, they were responsible for locating and acquiring people with unique and important lineages, so they could be used in the Animus Project.
The department has taken part in the capture of at least three people closely related to the Assassin Order: Daniel Cross (Subject 4),[1] Clay Kaczmarek (Subject 16)[2] and Desmond Miles (Subject 17).[3]
