Joseph is an Assassin who was believed to be dead until 2015, when he contacted the Templars and disclosed that a Piece of Eden had been hidden in Salem, Massachusetts, during the witch trials of 1692. He informed the Assassins, explaining he was trying to draw out a top Templar in San Diego; Xavier Chen believed him, but Galina Voronina was suspicious. To verify his claim, they recruited Charlotte de la Cruz to explore her ancestor Tom Stoddard's memories of the event.
