Jamal was a member of the Levantine Assassins. In 1191, he and his fellow Assassin Masun covertly defected to the Templar Order, and allowed a contingent of Templars to enter the Assassins' fortress of Masyaf by opening the gates. After that, Jamal continued to act as an Assassin, standing at his post just outside Masyaf in the countryside.
Trivia
- Originally, he was to be an assassination target in Assassin's Creed, but was ultimately cut from the final game due to constraints on Ubisoft. However, he still appears as a minor Easter egg.
- When in Eagle Vision, Jamal appears as the only red enemy Assassin. When killed, however, the other Assassins react as any other guard and attack.
- When using Eagle Sense after the initial battle during the Assassin's Creed: Revelations memory The Mentor's Keeper, one of the Assassins is marked with a red aura. This is considered as a throwback easter egg to Jamal's appearance in the first game.
