Haras (died 1189) was an undercover Templar spy in the Assassin Order, and instigator of a Templar attack on Masyaf.
In 2012, his genetic memories were used by the Templar company Abstergo Industries, for the training of their Animus recruits, under the title of the Crusader.
Biography
Death
In 1189, Haras betrayed the Assassin Order, and led an army of Templars to attack the Assassins' fortress of Masyaf. Many Assassins were killed in the defense, and Al Mualim was captured. The Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad fought his way to the Assassin fortress and confronted Haras, who then threatened Altaïr with the death of Al Mualim. Haras then promptly retreated to the now Templar-occupied fortress, and proceeded to kill off the other Assassin hostages with his crossbow. Altaïr, who was locked outside the fortress promptly scaled its walls and assassinated Haras. As he died, Haras continued to defy the Assassins, claiming that the Templars knew the truth and that the Assassin's Creed was wrong.
Final words
- Haras: You put too much faith in the hearts of men, Altaïr. The Templars know the truth. Humans are weak, base and petty.
- Altaïr: No, our creed is evidence to the contrary.
- Haras: *scoffs* Perhaps I am not wise enough to understand, but I suspect the opposite; that I am too wise to believe such rubbish.
