Dunya was the sogdian leader of a mercenary group known as the Snake-Eaters during the 9th century CE.[1]
Suceeding her father to the head of the Snake-Eaters, Dunya gained the respect of her people on the battlefield. She reinforced the mercenaries hold on the Silk Road and by 870 the Hidden Ones were on her tail. Oisel and Matthias two members of the organisation tried to kill her in a fortress controlled by the Snake-Eaters along the Silk Road. She killed Alouette, Oisel's bird of prey, putting Oisel on the run. She then emprisoned Matthias until she obtained her loyalty and relocated to Chang'an with him at her side. It's there in her property that she met her demise by the hand of a vengeful Oisel.[1]
