Ahmet (1465 - 1512) was an Ottoman prince (Şehzade) and the oldest son of Bayezid II. He was also the uncle of Suleiman I "the Magnificent".

Biography

Born as the eldest son to Bayezid II and Bülbül Hatun, he was trained as provincial governor in Anatolia. During his father's later years, he was considered the crown prince and supported by grand vizier Hadim Ali Pasha. Pasha died when Ahmet left the battlefield during the Shahkulu Rebellion when, instead of fighting, he tried to rally his troops towards his cause for ascension.[1]

In the year 1511, Şehzade Ahmet became acquainted with the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze.[2] Unbeknownst to the Assassin, was the master of the Templars in southeastern Europe. During Ezio's escape from Cappadocia following the death of Manuel Palaiologos, he revealed his true status and blackmailed the Assassin into relinquishing the Masyaf keys in exchange for his lover Sofia Sartor's life. The Assassins honored the agreement, but Ahmet attempted to kill Sofia anyway by hanging her in a courtyard in Galata. Ezio managed to save her in time, and the two pursued Ahmet in a carriage. After a harrowing ride through the outskirts of the city, Ezio used his parachute to reach Ahmet's carriage, which he promptly crashed, sending the two flying over a cliff. They brawled briefly in midair before the parachute saved them both. Ezio momentarily wondered what he should do with Ahmet, as Prince Suleiman had asked for him to be spared, but the problem was solved shortly afterward by the arrival of the newly-installed sultan Selim I, who seized his estranged brother and hurled him into the canyon to his death.[1]
