Biography
Conflict with Nobunaga
In 1570, due to a multi-generational alliance relationship with the Asakura clan, Nagamasa attacked his brother-in-law's forces as they attempted to besiege the Asakura's main stronghold at Kanagasaki Castle. Nobunaga was forced to retreat and felt personally betrayed by Nagamasa, whom he had considered part of the family.[2] Nobunaga then had Nagamasa executed and used his skull as an ornament for feasts, as well as burning Odani Castle to the ground and killing the entire Azai clan.[4]
Legacy
In 1582, Kuma revealed his former allegiance to the daimyō to the samurai Yasuke.[3] Shortly after, Oichi met with Yasuke to honor her deceased brother and afterwards told him of what Nobunaga did to Nagamasa.[4]
