Associated with the pre-Lenten festivals celebrated on and around Martedì Grasso, the Carnevale lasted well over a month. People, civilians and noblemen alike, celebrated the festival playing games and competitions in the fair and involving in various activities such as gambling, brothels, and watching entertainers and performers in the streets and city squares. The environment was vibrant with people garbing in colorful and unique dresses and putting on different dominoes and masks, with dancing and fireworks being integral components of the festival.
The Constantine District was one of the four major districts of Constantinople during the Renaissance. Home to the city's poorest, it was full of ramshackle wooden buildings with highly mismatched rooftops. Amid the housing stood potent reminders of the city's opulent past, such as the Valens Aqueduct. The majority of the Byzantine guards that patrolled the streets of Constantinople thrived here in the Constantine district.

During the Carnevale, by wearing a Carnevale mask and cape given to him by Leonardo da Vinci, Ezio was able to avoid suspicion from the guards. After participating in and winning the Carnevale's games, Ezio earned his prize, the Golden Mask. However, Silvio Barbarigo secretly bribed the Carnevale's Master of Ceremonies to give the Golden Mask to Dante Moro instead. Ezio then pickpocketed the Golden Mask from Dante and wore it, replacing his plain mask and granting himself access to Marco Barbarigo's party.

*Even after the events of the Carnevale, the citizens will continue to celebrate it for the remainder of the game, albeit without fireworks, in the district of Dorsoduro.
*Ezio cannot change outfits during the Carnevale.
