Wiltun is a town in Wiltshire, England dating back to the time of the Anglo-Saxons.

In 871, after the Battle of Bedwyn, Alfred and his forces stationed themselves at Wiltun after their loss to Vikings. Within days, Alfred met the Vikings again during the Battle of Meretun. After the battle, the newly crowned King Alfred met with Viking leaders Guthrum and Halfdan Ragnarsson for a truce. The Vikings received silver and gold while in return, they promised not to cross over the Avon river back into Wessex. Both parties agreed, with the Vikings leaving Wessex soon afterwards.[1]
