An artist is an individual engaged in the creation or practice of art, especially the visual arts.
The prolific activity of artists in 15th century Europe, along with their patronage by nobles and popes alike, was a hallmark of the Renaissance.[1] This was a period of cultural flowering that originated in Italy and whose famous artists included Raphael, Michelangelo, Francesco Vecellio, and Leonardo da Vinci, the latter three of whom worked closely with the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins.[1][2][3]
