Thessaly, also known as Aeolia in antiquity, is a region of Greece.

Like in nearby Makedonia, horse breeding was important in Thessaly, and the animals were greatly valued.[1]

Geography[edit | edit source]

The river Pineios flows through Thessaly and into the Aegean Sea.[2] A city known as Pharsalos in antiquity is located in southern Thessaly.[1]
