The Temple of Apollo Korythos

The Temple of Apollo Korythos was a temple dedicated to Apollo in Aipeia within the Valley of Aristomenes in Messenia, Greece.

The temple celebrated the god for his healing powers[1], but it was rendered largely in ruin by the time of the Peloponnesian War. The Order of Dominion branch of the Order of the Ancients had claimed the site as one of their outposts by the 420s BCE. Soon after, the temple was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra who eliminated the Order guards.[2] She also claimed the valuables and recovered an Ainigmata Ostraka in the temple.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The temple of Apollo Korythos in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is based on the ruins of an actual temple. The epithet of Apollo, Κορυνθος, references the sacred cakes of the same name.
