A map of South America

South America is a continent comprising the southern peninsula or portion of the Americas, bordered on the north and east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the northwest by North America and the Caribbean Sea, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean.[1] After the Age of Discovery, the indigenous tribes and civilizations of South America were dominated by Spanish and Portuguese settlers who started colonizing the South American lands and exploiting their natural resources.[2]

In 2012, one of Clay Kaczmarek's rifts in the Animus 2.02 detailed Abstergo Industries' manipulation of the continent's economy and politics over the preceding decades.[3]
