Arkas, the son of the god Zeus and the nymph Kallisto, was a king of Arkadia in the Greek mythology.
Within Smuggler's Forest in Arkadia was located a fort bearing his name. Built into older ruins, the fort was infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[1][2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The whole region of Arkadia is named after him.[3]
