Aristomenes (died 7th century BCE) was a king of Messenia, celebrated for his struggle with the Spartans in the Second Messenian War.

Aristomenes originated from the town of Andania and later rose to become a general of the Messenian rebels.[1] Caught by Sparta, he was sentenced, twice, to be thrown into the chasm of Keadas, but escaped both times.[2] After his death, his spirit was said to haunt the Spartans.[1] In addition, the Valley of Aristomenes and a military camp in the region were named after him.[3]
