A shop quest was a special mission from several Roman merchants that the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore undertook in the early 1500s. These quests, which were only accessible from the shops located closest to the Assassins' headquarters on Tiber Island, required Ezio to gather rare tradeable items in order to obtain unique equipment or upgrades that could not be bought under normal circumstances. These rare items could be found in treasure chests throughout Rome and within Lairs of Romulus, by tackling Borgia messengers, by killing and looting Cento Occhi thieves[1] or Hermeticists,[2] or by sending Assassin apprentices on certain contracts.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

After completing "Venomous," Ezio can no longer purchase poison at a regular dosage from doctors.

Aconite can only be found on Borgia messengers unless players also own the downloadable expansion The Da Vinci Disappearance, which includes the new faction of Hermeticists, some of whom will carry the herb.

In the PC version, all required shop quest items could be gained simply by investing florins into any shop in Rome.

While players may be tempted to sell a shrunken head at the art merchant, who values it at 11,000ƒ, it is instead recommended to hold on to them to complete the quest "Exotica". Outside of the two confirmed ones kept in treasure chests in both the Antico District and in the Followers of Romulus lair at the Lateran Palace, the heads have a rare drop rate from killing enemy thieves.
