Ardmel

Ardmel was a ringfort situated on the hills east of Lough Beg in Ulster, Ireland.

History[edit | edit source]

In the 9th century, Ardmel was a trading post specialized in trading honey that had been abandoned and taken over by bandits. Between 879 and 882, Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir assisted Azar in clearing the ringfort of bandits and obtaining the deed poll to the site, allowing the re-establishment of the trade post connecting to Dublin.[1]

During her journey, Eivor searched for the identity of a Child of Danu, "The Deer," as she followed a clue from killing "The Cursed." Exploring the trade post, Eivor came across the clue on top of supplies outside the trading post. This clue revealed the identity of The Deer to be Ruaidrí and his location to be at Inch Lough Neagh, extorting its people.[2]
