Salah Bey was the captain of Nāder Shāh's guards, and a member of the Persian Brotherhood of Assassins during the 18th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

On 20 June 1747, Salah and his fellow Assassins attacked Nāder Shāh. Although the Shāh killed two of Salah's brothers, he ultimately fell to the Assassin's sword. However, the Koh-i-Noor in the Shāh's possession was discovered to have ended up in the hands of Ahmad Shāh Durrānī, an Afghan chief. Salah thus planned to pursue him in order to recover the Piece of Eden.[1]

Following the assassination of Nāder Shāh, Salah wrote a letter to Achilles Davenport, the Mentor of the Colonial Brotherhood, detailing the events that had transpired and his new course of action. Although he expressed that he was glad to have allies so far across the world, Salah also mentioned that he regretted not having the time to be better acquainted with Achilles or his cause.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Bey, meaning "lord", is a title of Turko-Mongol origin denoting leadership, usually military in nature.
  • Historically, Salah Bey or Salah Khan was not the captain of the guard but the overseer of Nāder's household. Muhammad Quli Khan was captain of the guard and, together with Salah Bey, led a group of fifteen conspirators to kill their relative and ruler Nāder Shah.
