The Prefect of Lugdunum was a city prefect in charge of the administration of Lugdunum during the mid-3rd century.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 259 CE, the prefect was approached by the Iberian Hidden One Cuervo, who wished to arrange a meeting with the Aleman general Accipiter to ensure the safety of Lugdunum.[1]
As agreed, the prefect and his guards met with the Alemanni outside the city, where Accipiter demanded a ransom in exchange for Lugdunum's safety. Though reluctant at first, the prefect granted Accipiter's request after hearing threats from the Aleman general.[1]
Afterwards, the prefect was joined by another man, who informed him that the preparations for Aquilus' arrest and trial were ready. The prefect, eager to enact retribution for Aquilus' assassination of Senator Caïus Fulvus Vultur, ordered that the Hidden One and his wife Valeria be executed as soon as they were brought outside the city walls.[1]
