Poland is a country in Central Europe, situated close to Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania and Belarus.
History[edit | edit source]
Mongol invasion[edit | edit source]
Between 1240 and 1241, the Mongol army under general Subutai had invaded the Kingdom of Poland. The Polish defense was aided by the Templar Order, and at the decisive Battle of Legnica the Mongols had captured a member. This Templar later ended up inducting Möngke Khan into the Order, laying the foundation for its Mongolian Rite.[1] Though the tide of the invasion was in the Mongols' favor, their forces retreated after receiving news of Ögedei Khan's assassination, so that Subutai and Batu Khan could participate in the kurultai to elect the next khagan.[2]
World War II[edit | edit source]
Before the Second World War flashpoint burst, the country was invaded by the Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union together. At the end of the war, the country was forced to join the Warsaw Pact.
On 15 July 1943, Assassins Julia Dusk and Eddie Gorm infiltrated Książ Castle, which was holding an auction hosted by Nazi leader and German Templar Gero Kramer, to recover an Apple of Eden. The Assassins ultimately killed Kramer and recovered the Apple. Making their way underground, they met with their leader Boris Pash revitalizing a train for them. However, both Nikola Tesla and Pash revealed the latter's temporary agreement with the Templars, which led Eddie to unsuccessfully attack Pash. Dusk, dismayed, tried to use a grenade to destroy the Apple, killing herself in the process.[3]
Unfortunately, Dusk's attempt was in vain and Pash took the intact Apple while leaving Gorm bleeding to death. However, Eddie escaped the castle and survived his injuries.[3]
Cold War[edit | edit source]
By the end of the Cold War, Poland had gained its independence from the USSR.
