Peter Messaline (1944 – 2016) was an English-Canadian writer, editor, tax preparer, teacher, and actor. He worked in the entertainment industry for more than 40 years.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Early life[edit | edit source]

Peter Burrell was born in London, England on 9 April 1944. Early on, he worked as a co-writer and editor for 25 years, starting with English-as-a-Second Language radio and television scripts for Holland and Denmark, and later on an Adult Functional Literacy project for Access Television, Alberta.[1] He emigrated to Canada with his wife, actress Miriam Newhouse in 1977.[2] He was also a tax preparer, being a founding member of Tax Caucus, a group of performers' tax preparers supported by ACTRA. As a teacher, with Miriam Newhouse, he started the very first curriculum-based Acting-As-A-Business course in Canada.[1]

Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]

In 2015, Messaline was hired by Ubisoft to voice the character David Brewster in the then-upcoming Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. The role would be his last ever.[1]

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Messaline married Miriam Newhouse whom he met while teaching in 1970.[1] He retired in 2015, citing health reasons. He later died on 8 December 2016 peacefully in his sleep at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.[3]
