The Nereides Monument

The Nereides Monument was a sunken sanctuary located off the southwestern coast of Mount Koryphum in Argolis, Greece, dedicated to the Nereids, a group of sea nymphs in Greek mythology.

During the Peloponnesian War, the ruins was explored by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who claimed the treasures within the deeps.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite the similarity in names, this location has nothing to do with the Nereid Monument, which is located in Turkey.
