Loch Ness is a large freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands. It takes its name from the Ness, one of the rivers it flows to.[1] It was home to an Isu temple up until the late 9th century, when the complex was flooded.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
Saint Columba the Reborn, a copyist monk, studied texts that spoke of a demon living in Loch Ness, and he went to confront it, only to discover the "demon" was a large temple complex under the lake, the entrance of which would rise out of the water like a monster. The temple housed a black stone-like book that drew his attention.[2]
Using the book's powers, Saint Columba the Reborn went on to form his own Christian sect, converting many and establishing what was essentially an abbey inside the temple. A small fortress near the entrance was built for added protection. The Hidden One Adelaïde, together with Niels Gunnarsson and Edward, eventually flooded the temple, ending its use by the sect, though its leader managed to flee the location.[2]
