The Lady of Guo (虢國夫人; died 756) was a Chinese noblewoman who lived during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang. She, along with the Lady of Han and the Lady of Qin, was the older sister of Yang Yuhuan, who bore the title guifei as the most beloved consort of the Emperor. She was also a cousin of the Golden Turtles leader Yang Guozhong, who was the leading chancellor in the imperial court.[1] Rumours swirled of an incestuous relationship between the Lady of Guo and Guozhong, and these were used by An Lushan in his propaganda for his rebellion.[2]
In 756, the Lady of Guo, along with the Lady of Han, the Lady of Qin, and various high-ranking members of the Golden Turtles, were assassinated by a group of Assassins led by Li E at Mawei Station. Her cousin Yang Guozhong was later killed in a mutiny by soldiers of the Tang army, specifically the Army of Heavenly Warriors and the Army of Dragon Warriors, while Yang Guifei was murdered by the surviving Golden Turtle Gao Lishi.[1]
