La Rosa Colta (English: The Plucked Rose) was a brothel in Florence during the Renaissance.
History[edit | edit source]
Founded by the Assassin Paola in 1465, its purpose was to provide a home and an education to women of the streets. They were educated in poetry, the arts, as well as sexual intercourse. The brothel soon became popular, and was visited by members of the Signoria of Florence, as well as the Medici family.[1]
In 1476, Ezio Auditore da Firenze and his mother and sister took refuge in the brothel after the execution of Giovanni, Federico and Petruccio Auditore da Firenze.[2]
