Karl[note 1] is the son of Miriam Kurtz, the ex-husband of Aileen Bock, and the father of Seamus. Around 1980, his ex-wife led Abstergo Industries' Surrogate Initiative and used a sample of their son's DNA to relive the genetic memories of his mother's experiences during World War II.[1]
