Alvise da Vilandino (1441 – 1500) was an Italian baggage handler who resided in Venice.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Escorting Leonardo and Ezio[edit | edit source]
Born in 1441, Alvise worked as a baggage handler in Venice and, in 1481, welcomed the polymath Leonardo da Vinci and his close friend, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, to the city. He gave the pair a short tour of the San Polo District and introduced Leonardo to his new workshop in Venice, before being rudely dismissed without a tip for his service.[1]
Venetian-Ottoman War[edit | edit source]
Several years later, Alvise joined the Venetian Navy. In 1500, while Venice was at war with the Ottoman Empire, Alvise was tasked with defending the fort of Modon from the Turks. Having drank heavily the night before the battle, Alvise panicked upon hearing cannon fire, stumbled out onto the deck in the midst of the battle, and fell over the rail, where he drowned.[2]
After Venice lost the battle, the captain of Alvise's ship accused him of negligence, and he was erased from the naval logs.[2]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
While leaving behind no notable legacy, in 2012, Desmond Miles relived the genetic memories of his ancestor Ezio Auditore through the Animus and witnessed his brief encounter with Alvise in Venice.
