The Independence was an American frigate that sailed the Caribbean Sea in the 1770s. During a voyage in 1776, the ship was attacked by British privateers in the Bahamas and sent out a distress call. The Assassin Connor, captain of the Aquila, received the call and set out to help. He destroyed the British vessels and ensured the safety of the Independence.[1]
