The Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, is a prominent Sikh Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. After conquering the Punjab region, Maharaja Ranjit Singh of the Sikh Empire covered the upper floors of the Gurdwara with gold.[1]
It was scaled at least once by the Assassin Arbaaz Mir, while he was trying to save Ranjit Singh from poisoning by the British in 1839.[2]
