Aspasia, the only known individual to hold the title

The Ghost of Kosmos was the title held by the leader of Cult of Kosmos in ancient Greece, said to be the voice of Kosmos in the world.

History[edit | edit source]

By the time of Peloponnesian War, the position was held by Aspasia, the partner of the Athenian statesman Perikles.[1] Sensing discord within the Cult, she instructed the Sage of the Eyes of Kosmos branch, Nyx the Shadow, to share nothing she learned with the cult, only with her.[2]

In many ways, the Ghost claimed credit for many of the rewards that Kleon and Pausanias of Sparta had reaped from their positions within the Greek world and as Sages of the Cult of Kosmos, claiming she had "gifted" Kleon the city of Athens and the life of Perikles, and Pausanias the regions of Megara and Arkadia. She also claimed, to each one separately, that they would be the victors when Kosmos demanded an end to the war.[3][4]

In 422 BCE, the title was relinquished by Aspasia after her confrontation with the misthios Kassandra in the Cult's hideout under the Sanctuary of Delphi.[5]
