The Ghost-Faced General is the purported ghost of an ancient general. According to Chinese legend, the god Chiyou brought him into his service after his death so that he may lead an army of his dead soldiers on his behalf. Ghost stories of the Qin period alleged that he haunted the Shadow Forest with his horde searching for the enemies of his former kingdom to avenge himself upon—but would instead strike down any living being he chanced upon.[1]
