The Esquiline Hill (Latin: Collis Esquilinus, Italian: Esquilino) is one of the seven hills of Rome. During the Renaissance, it was located in the Campagna District.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Republic, the Esquiline was another fashionable residential district. The Roman Emperor Nero confiscated property here to build his opulent Golden Palace.[1] The Roman Emperor Trajan also constructed his bath complex on the Esquiline.[2]
