Dear Boss was a virtual representation of one of Evie Frye's genetic memories, relived by a Helix initiate through the Helix Navigator.
Description[edit | edit source]
Arthur Weaversbrook asks Evie Frye to make sure one of the writers of so-called Ripper Letters isn't actually Jack the Ripper.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
- Arthur Weaversbrook: Miss Frye... I have helped spread the Ripper's terror through my newspapers. I want to make amends for my part in forging this monster's legend.
Whether or not The Man Beast is a fake, we cannot ignore the chance that a lunatic, and not some misguided newspaperman wrote it...
Evie left Arthur, and located the suspect. She tailed him through the borough to a dockyard where he stopped to brag to his friends.
- Suspect: The Ripper has captured the world's attention, maybe some good will come out of it... the east end needs to change...
Evie frightened the man, and then caught him.
- Suspect: All right, yes! I know it was not a good idea, but I thought I'd galvanize the public in order to help the poor citizens of this city!
Evie let the man go, and he fled.
Outcome[edit | edit source]
Evie learned the truth behind the letter, earning her Arthur's gratitude.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Despite being the last mission in the Ripper Letter sequence, the name of this memory is anachronistic, as the "Dear Boss" letter was the first of the missives purportedly sent by Jack. Dated 25 September 1888, it was postmarked and received by the Central News Agency on 27 September, before being forwarded to Scotland Yard two days later.
