The Councillor's House was the home of Hjorr Halfsson and his wife Ljufvina Bjarmarsdottir, the former King and Queen of Avaldsnes, in Jorvik, Eurviscire after Hjorr became a councillor to King Ricsige of Northumbria.

Around 874, Hjorr Halfsson and Ljufvina Bjarmarsdottir made a new home in Jorvik after declining King Harald Fairhair's offer of unity in Norway. There, Hjorr became a member of King Ricsige of Northumbria's council while Ljufvina assisted in keeping the peace.
