Charicles was an Athenian associate to Loukianos, a sycophant who followed the Thirty Tyrants' leader Critias. In 404 BCE, Charicles repaid a debt to Loukianos by convincing an archon to add Loukianos' name to a guest list for Critias' house party. Despite the favor, he warned Loukianos in a letter to stop saying that Critias was a friend, as he feared the false overfamiliarity would lead to both of their deaths.[1]
