Minowa Castle (箕輪城) was a hirayama-style castle situated in the city of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Its ruins have been protected as a National Historical Site as of 1987.[1]

In 1566, Takeda Shingen led his soldiers to attack rival daimyō Uesugi Kenshin's forces at the castle. Kamiizumi Nobutsuna led the defense but after losing the castle to the Takeda clan, he reversed loyalty to the clan. After switching allegiances, his student Nagano Saemon grew to hate his former master and vowed vengeance against the Takeda's.[2]
