Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a sandbox-style, action-adventure game, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and published by Ubisoft. The fourth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, the game was released on November 15 (for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), and November 29 (PC) of 2011.

A direct follow-up to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the story Desmond Miles, who is in a comatose state, and is being kept alive by the Animus. In order to regain consciousness, Desmond must relive the last remaining memories of his ancestor Ezio Auditore da Firenze until nothing was left for him to see (reaching the Synch Nexus).

Originally planned for the Nintendo 3DS (entitled Lost Legacy), the game was revamped and renamed Revelations. The game marks Ezio's final time to be featured in the game, and the last game to be set in the Renaissance era.

Plot
After forcefully stabbing Lucy Stillman at the command of Juno, Assassin Desmond Miles entered a critical coma, and is being kept alive by the Animus (put there by William Miles). William and Rebecca Crane prepared to leave for New York with Desmond while Shaun Hastings stayed in Rome and attended Lucy's funeral. Desmond's brain remained active while in the Animus, though the team watching over him was not able to record anything while he was in the machine.

Trapped within the Animus' Black Room, Desmond's consciousness awoke at Animus Island, and was greeted by Subject 16, whose consciousness has been alive and imprisoned within the Animus' software. 16 explained that due to Desmond's prolonged time within the Animus, his mind was now meshed with the memories of his ancestor; all their memories are starting to interfere with his own, as well as his former ancestor, Altaïr. In order to free himself from his coma, Desmond must relive the last greatest moments of Ezio until nothing was left for him (reaching the Synch Nexus). This will separate his mind from the memories of both his ancestors; Ezio, and Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.

Desmond relived Ezio's life once again, during 1511. Ezio has set out to uncover the secret library left behind by Altaïr in Masyaf after discovering a parchment from his father. There in Masyaf, he was greeted by a large platoon of Byzantine Templars, who successfully captured him after a fight. Brought upon the tower of Masyaf's Assassin fortress, Ezio was to be hung by the Byzantine captain Leandros, but successfully escaped. Navigating through the ruined fortress, Ezio happened upon a secret entryway to Altaïr's library.

With 16's help, Desmond sets out to reform his mind.
Ezio soon discovered that the door was locked, and can only be opened by special keys made by Altaïr. Learning that the captain Leandros retrieved the journal of Niccolò Polo, which would supposedly lead him to the keys' location. Making his way outside the fortress, Ezio followed Leandros and chased after him through Masyaf's countryside, leading him to a nearby remote village. There, he was able to kill Leandros (who spoke of a Grand Temple being sought after by the Templars), and retrieved the journal. Learning from the journal that the keys were hidden in the city of Constantinople, Ezio left Syria, and sailed for the great city.

Uncovering a legend: Ezio Auditore<br />
Arriving at the city with the Ottoman Prince Suleiman I (unaware of his name or title), Ezio arrived at the city of Constantinople, and was greeted by the Turkish Assassin leader, Yusuf Tazim. After a brief tour of the city, some time training with the Ottoman's trademark weapon, and assisting in the protection of one of the Assassins' strongholds, Ezio set out to find the Polos' old trading post. He was directed by Yusuf to an old bookshop owned by the Venetian Sofia Sartor. Inspecting the shop, Ezio uncovered an entrance to the old Yerebatan Cistern, and managed to retrieve both a map and one of the keys. Disclosing what he found to Sofia, Ezio agreed to work with her to uncover the location of the old books indicated in the map that would lead him to the other keys, while keeping information about his affiliation and workload a secret.
After the fall of the Borgia in Rome, the Mentor Ezio Auditore da Firenze discovers a parchment from his father that detailed about a secret within the fortress of Masyaf, hidden away by the great Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. Traveling to Syria, Ezio sets out on what became his last great adventure before retirement.

Consensus - <br />
While helping the Ottoman Assassins, Ezio learned from Yusuf that the Byzantines planned to assassinate Prince Suleiman during a banquet at Topkapi Palace. Infiltrating the palace disguised as minstrels, Ezio and Yusuf saved Suleiman successfully from the Byzantines. The Prince was grateful for Ezio's help, furious that his own personal guard could not protect him. Suleiman summoned the Janissary Captain Tarik Barleti to Topkapi for a meeting with him and his uncle Prince Ahmet, successor to Sultan Bayezid II. Talking with Ezio in private, Suleiman asked the Assassin to help him in his investigation with the Byzantine's attack, starting by eavesdropping on the Princes' meeting with Tarik. Ezio agreed, and listened to their meeting while hiding in a hidden room.
The pacing of the story is consistent, though this time, it focuses on two main mission branches to follow: One for the Assassins, the other for the Keys of Altaïr. This helps keep the pacing of a single branch of events consistent, which can help immerse players into the game. Previous story elements from the previous installments, such as secret conspiracies between allies, are still present within the Revelations. They help add a degree of surprise and disbelief once the player progresses through the story.

The story's context is well enough, that it answered most questions that people have been wondering about (i.e "what happened to Subject 16?", "is Lucy dead?"), and it helped put some closure on Altaïr's status, which was left open for interpretation at the end of Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade. However, it still added a few more questions right after, and left some still unanswered (i.e "why was Lucy stabbed?" "where is this Eve Subject 16 mentioned?" "so Altaïr and Ezio's apple not the same.?"
Ezio believed that Tarik was the prime suspect, and proceeds to tail him in order to prove his suspicions. Starting from the Grand Bazaar, Ezio tailed Tarik all the way to the arsenal of the city, where he saw him negotiating with Byzantines. With the arsenal gates locked out by the Janissaries, Ezio met with Yusuf, and thought of ways on how to open the gates. Utilizing the nearby heralds, Ezio hoped to incite the civilians into causing a riot that could break through the gates. Despite Yusuf's disapproval and the Janissaries' attempt in containing the crowd, the rioting mob broke through the gates. Ezio entered the arsenal and located the warehouse where Tarik's contact were. Hearing the name Manuel Palaiologos from one of the Byzantines, Ezio proceeded to inspect the crates given by Tarik; crates that contained several firearms. Hurriedly leaving the arsenal, Ezio prepared to report back to Suleiman.

The Hook and the Blade<br />
Introduced in Revelations is the Ottoman Assassin Hookblade, given to you by Yusuf Tazim. Standard issue for the Ottoman Assassins, the hookblade has two parts for use: the hook, and the blade (no, really. I had a hard time figuring that out), which can be used for both combat and navigation.

The hookblade improves Ezio's movement in scaling buildings and climbing towers, allowing him to reach rooftops in no time. With the hook, Ezio is able to latch on to zip lines located throughout the city, doubling their speed and cutting their travel time short. Other uses include the ability to jump longer distances through tied lamps, and also an extended reach that allows the player to latch onto buildings as they fall.
Disclosing what he learned about Tarik with Suleiman, Ezio was to extract information from Tarik about where the firearms were headed, and then kill him. Assassinating a lone Janissary, Ezio stripped disguised himself as one of the Janissaries and proceeded to infiltrate their camp. From there, he went deeper until he saw Tarik, who was discussing his arrangement with the Byzantines with one of his own men. After learning that the firearms have made it to Cappadocia, Ezio assassinated Tarik. During his last words, Tarik confessed that he was scheming an ambush for the remaining Templars at their home territory; he sent some of his subordinates to infiltrate the Templar ranks and report to him about their activities.

Through its use, the hookblade can also help avoid fights, or can help you in one. With the hook, you can practically vault through most guards, while in fights, in can help you steal in the midst of a fight, and also take down nearly anyone, either lethally or non-lethally.

Several action figures were also made, based on Ezio's various appearances. The bonus editions of Assassin's Creed II included figurines of Ezio manufactured by NECA. Two versions of the figurines were available: Ezio in his default ACII robes (available in the White and Master Assassin editions), and Ezio in his Wetland Ebony ACII robes, wearing Missaglias Armor (available in the Black Edition). In both versions, Ezio was posed the same.

Inception: A memory within a memory<br />
Another figurine of Ezio in his default Brotherhood appearance was made. Labeled Ezio's fury, the figurine shows Ezio leaping forward with his hidden blade (as though he was about to assassinate someone), trying to navigate over several ruined Roman columns. The figurine was not included in any of the installment's special editions, and can only be bought separately.
As promised by Ubisoft, players would get to play as the legendary Altaïr for some time in the game. Through the keys scattered by Niccolo and Maffeo Polo, Ezio is able to relieve key moments of the legendary Assassin himself, which begins with his success in quelling a Templar attack in Masyaf, and ends with his final days as Grand Master.

Aperture: Desmond's journey
Appearing in his Brotherhood robes, Ezio fights with both his hidden blades (and the Pistol attachment), his crossbow, the Roman Longsword, and the Stiletto dagger. His appearance in SoulCalibur V appears nearly the same as his appearance in Brotherhood, except for the identical hidden blade bracers that was only featured in pre-release media of Brotherhood. His alternate 2P costume was an alteration of his robes' colors, with the red and white replaced with yellow and dark gray respectively.

His prologue story detailed a gap in Ezio's timeline, according to Shaun Hastings. While on his way to Navarre to meet Cesare, Ezio discovered an artifact in the possession of a group of Templars who planned to overthrow Queen Catalina off of the Spanish Coast. Boarding the ship at night, Ezio defeated the Templars and set the ship ablaze. Taking the chest that contained the artifact, Ezio left the ship and hid in a safe place before opening it.

According to Shaun, the Animus' readings became erratic after the specific memory (with the readings appearing as if though it was from the Richter Scale) and soon afterwards, Ezio's timeline jumped to the near end of the 16th Century, where he would then fight with powerful foes. He later returned to 1507, as he was sailing for Navarre.

Conclusion
Several of his moves (such as grapples) were based on fighting techniques he used in the installments, while other new moves were added to his moveset. His Critical Edge attack (labeled Full Synchronization) makes use of all the weapons in his arsenal (even including a smoke bomb). The mimic characters of the game (Edge Master and Kilik) cannot utilize Ezio's fighting style, likewise to the created characters. Also, majority of his in-game quotes and lines were taken from Brotherhood.
