Benjamin Pritchard (died 1713) was a member of the Templar Order and the captain of the Amazon Galley, a merchant ship in service of the East India Company.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Pirate attack and death[edit | edit source]
In 1713, the Amazon Galley was attacked and captured by the Emperor, a privateer-turned-pirate ship under the command of Alexander Dolzell. After being tortured by Dolzell and his first mate Trafford, Pritchard was put under the guard of Blaney and Edward Kenway.[1]
While guarding Pritchard in the Emperor's navigation room, Kenway took notice of the captain's Templar ring on his burnt hands. With Kenway recognizing the symbol from an attack on his family in Bristol, Pritchard promised to reveal its true meaning and help him find the men who had set fire to his parents' house if Kenway helped him escape.[2] However, before Kenway could act, Pritchard was impaled on Dolzell's sword when the privateer Edward Thatch came to the rescue of the Amazon Galley.[3]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In 2015, the Templar Isabelle Ardant included Pritchard's name on a list of known British Templars. This list was later unveiled by the Assassins Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings when they infiltrated Ardant's office to plant a bug.[4]
