Actually with his resources he could have got the apple even without Altair. But!!! Time plays tricks on us. Do you remember in ACR when Masyaf was invaded by Templars led by "The Knight". If not for Altair, Al Mualim would have died. Meaning-The Apple would be a mystery. O_O
