Darksiders went from action to RPG with Darksiders 2 and it was one of the best decisions they ever made. So hell yeah I think it's a good move! xD

Also, Skyrim is epic. If AC3 incorporates some Skyrim elements into it, it's GOTY 2012 for sure.
