If you ask me there is no real place for an Assassin in ancient Japan. Not with ninjas running around and doing practically what Assassins do.

And being able to take a ship from ancient China to ancient Japan would be pretty unrealistic and weird, since ancient China was so much more advanced compared to ancient Japan.
