It should be important to note that in AC lore the Templars did not re-emerge in the 1700s but soon after they were officially disbanded. That is in conflict with the real world theory, so that may have some effects in AC lore.
Also, George Washington having the Apple means nothing. The Assassins could have given it to him to fight for freedom against the oppressing Brits, or he may be an Assassin himself. Nikola Tesla also had an Apple of Eden but he was not a Templar; he was an affiliate of the Assassins, but only after he lost the Apple to the Templars. On a side-note, a Mentor applies only to the Assassins and Grand Master applies to the Templars. ;)
