Well, we never discovered who it might be, but we can make assumptions that we will find out sometime in the future, specifically with the fact that we might play as him in another game.

At the end of the game, after the Desmond thing, the epilogue has Abstergo Employees hacking the animus or something similar to that, to get access to Connor's memories. Also, the friendship Connor gets with Lafayette may have him going to Paris for the French Revolution, unsure.

If we don't get the opportunity to learn who the love interest is, than it won't make a huge difference. We will be fine either way.

As for his injury getting to Charles Lee, well, I figure that the reason he was imping so much was because the events after were very recent, and so it would take some time to heal before he could do things again. I doubt he will be crippled though. Achilles just had a leg issue, so he used a cane to walk. Connor was hit around the ribs, I am sure he will be fine.
