1. Good ol' Desmond is dead.

2. Ubisoft uses historical events in their game; a modern-day setting would ruin that.

3. Watch Dogs is basically a modern-day AC. Not to mention the fact that they could be set in the same universe.

4. I find your lack of knowledge about the series disturbing :P
