Let's see...
I have been a true fan of the franchise around time AC2 was coming out in '09. I was originally was going to purchase AC1 when it first came out but after listening to my friend that the gameplay was no good (the repetitive mission), I decided against purchasing it at that time.
Fastforward to Fall of 2009 and I have been reading the articles on AC2, but what clinch it to me was the developer diary with Patrice Desilets as he talked about the improvement they had made to the gameplay and mission. After seeing some of the clips - I was hooked!
Thus, I had to return and purchase the original AC game in September 2009 to understand the storyline before AC2 came out in November. As I was playing AC1 - the gameplay did become tedious and irritating toward the end. However, I did not mind it so much because I was drawn to the storyline and philosophy that was being discussed in the game. By the time I finished the game - I was looking for AC2 with anticipation.
The change between AC1 and AC2 was amazing! The gameplay was smooth and all the things that irritated me in the first games had mostly vanished. This was great because it allowed me to become more immersed with the AC lore. The glyph puzzles! That was a highlight as it made me want to explore around to collect and solve them! I loved the interaction between the character and the setting of city states of Italy. AC2 was fill with awesome moments such as fistfighting with the Pope, Minerva, Leap of Faith from the Churches, and the Assassin's Tombs that it was hard to beat thus far.
I have continue to follow the story with Brotherhood that came roughly a year later and Revelations. Brotherhood wasn't too much different game from AC2 as most would agree that it felt like AC2.5 but it did bring the mechanic of Assassin's Recruit and having citizen join the Brotherhood. I enjoyed the Desmond's VR training as it allow us to get to know more about Desmond and his interaction with the members of his group. Subject 16 continued to amaze us with his ability to create new puzzles and tell us more about the world conspiracy. Revelations - did have their moments and I felt that it needed some more polishing but it did get the story across.
And now, I'm looking forward for AC3 that will be out on Tuesday 30 for the US and finishing up Desmond's Storyline and to see what clues the developer will give us ot see how it will continue.
