Why drop the Animus and its subjects? They could still use Subjects 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and maybe even 16 as protagonists. And I'm interested in finding more about all of them. Wouldn't you? And why is it not possible for someone to relive the memories of his grandfather or great-grandfather who fought in WWII?
As for Red Faction, THQ no longer wishes to continue with the franchise because Red Faction: Armageddon didn't sell as much as they expected it to. However, THQ also dropped the franchise in 2002 after the release of Red Faction II and released Red Faction: Guerrilla in 2009, so they may come back to it in a few years.
