The esotericist organization known to the public as the Society of Ends was an ancient order of sorcerer-artist-scientists with no real name, who outlived the cultures from which they sprang.

They were totally dedicated to their cause, rising above death, hold the power of life and death and be as powerful the Isu. Among their plans, they searched for immortality for about 6,000 years.

Every aspect of history, politics, science, magic and faith has been influenced by them and their many "tentacles", and the very art of alchemy was a by-product of their Infinitas agenda.

They believe that a righteous leader is one of "divine descent" - indicated by high presence of Precursor DNA in their bloodline -, with such families as the Imperial Family of Japan and the d'Arc family being among those fitting their view of "divine bloodlines". The Society of Ends's worldview shares elements of both Assassin and Templar beliefs, but it is opposed to and unlike both, acting as a third alternative to the former two societies.

History[edit | edit source]

Ancient era[edit | edit source]

Mesopotamia[edit | edit source]

In 2671 BC, in Mesopotamia, Lord Gidim and his "holy order" had Brother Nashtoth look for over a year for the bones of Gilgamesh, which the great king had wanted to preserve from them. They finally managed to retrieve it (after fourteen months and seventeen tombs), in the House of Dust.

Ancient Greece[edit | edit source]

In 323 BC, after Alexander the Great's death, Lord Mormo of the Order of the Hydra went to the Temple of Athena on the Acropolis of Phaselis, Lycia, to retrieve the Spear of Achilles and his blood crusted into its blade, the key to immortality.

Qin China[edit | edit source]

In 209 BC, Qin Shi Huang sent his court sorcerer Xú Fú to the immortal Anqi Sheng for the Elixir of Life. Anqi Sheng sent him away, asking for a certain price, and so Xú Fú returned with the gith of the emperor, tree thousand children, pure and from the very best families. Anqi Sheng was pleased by the gift and gave Xú Fú a component of the Elixir, enraging Xú Fú, and killed the offering.

Middle Ages[edit | edit source]

In 710 AD, in the Town of Ribe in Jutland, helped by Strybiorn and his men, the Society of Ends's sorcerer Draugr buried the bones of Eggther (a giant who had stolen the arrow of Hoder), in order to retrieve the arrow, a weapon capable of killing an Isu.

When several English barons rebelled against John in 1215 over his refusal to accept the Magna Carta, a document that had been crafted to limit John's powers, they joined the French and instigated the First Barons' War. Backed by members of the Society of Ends, John attempted to keep the Barons and the Capetians in check. The rebellious barons, including the majority of the English Assassins and their leader Robert Fitzwalter, managed to push John's forces from the French mainland and even capture several castles in England itself. Over the next year, a stalemate would develop, with neither side gaining any significant advantage.

The Society of Ends was also known in this period as the Cathari.

After the Assassins caused the disarray of the Templar Order in Paris in 1307, the Assassins kept France free from Templar influence. Their enemies, meanwhile, had strengthened their presence in Britain. Under the Templars' influence, the Hundred Years' War between England and France started in 1337, with the Templars hoping to regain control over France under the English banner.

However, the Society of Ends gained influence in France. By the start of the 15th century, prophecies of a Maiden who would lead France to victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians, had begun to spread. Hoping to find truth to the prophecy, the Society deployed its members around France hoping to stumble upon the real Maiden.

Jeanne d'Arc had a high amount of Precursor DNA, being able to enchant others by merely being in their presence and hearing voices who she believed to be angels delivering God's messages to her and who informed her of her destiny to lead France to victory in the war.

Recognizing her as the prophesied Maiden, Jean de Metz swore loyalty to her and helped her and her companion Gabriel Laxart to gain an audience with his lord, who sent her to Duke Charles of Lorraine. Through the Duke of Lorraine, Jeanne, Gabriel and Jean met the Dauphin of France, Charles. Jean also started training Gabriel Laxart in the secret martial skills, recognizing that he also had high Precursor DNA. Jean and Gabriel dug up the Sword of Eden that Jeanne had been informed of by "the voices", and after Jeanne met with the Society's Master in the West, , the Society ensured Jeanne received the aid required to form her own army to help the besieged city of Orléans.

19th Century[edit | edit source]

Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the tentacles of the Society of Ends.

20th Century[edit | edit source]

The Society of Ends was crucial into the development and spreading of Futurism, Accelerationism and Surrealism through society, promoting avant-garde art as well as the works of futurist thinkers and artists to the greater society. It could be said that the Society of Ends created Accelerationism as a means to achieve their final goal of creating an organic, united society based on eternal progress, industrial culture, destruction of relics that glorify the past, glorifying speed, heroism and violence, anti-traditionalism, anti-liberalism, anti-socialism, anti-chivalryism, anti-gynocentrism, anti-utilitarianism and a united surrealist 'collective dream' - achieved through unifying all human souls into a single unconscious entity - that eliminates its opponents through violent means.

Great World War[edit | edit source]

The Society of Ends supported the rise of Futurism in both Fiume and France, as this ideology is what, in the end, embodied their ideals. Antonin Artaud, Emperor Yasuhito and the ruling elites of Fiume were the individual tentacles of the Society of Ends, loyally serving its cause.

It was from the chaos, the unrest and the street battles that engulfed France that Charles Nungesser, a devotee of the Society of Ends as well as an accoplished aviator and flying ace of the Great War, leads a military coup overthrowing the old French Republic with the goal of restoring what remained of the ruined nation. France was secured under the rule of the Escadron Regime, as its people lost ties to the old ways of French society. As the nation recovers, multiple counterculture movements began to rise up. They venerated industrial society, idolised surrealist art, and oppose traditional societal norms. These include cultural clubs, fraternities and activist groups - such as Française Futuriste, Acéphale, Accéléré, Les Néo-Symphonies, and others - that gained massive influence.

In 1934, Nungesser, accompained by the surrealist dramatist and theatre director Antonin Artaud, declared the Avant-Garde State. Artaud became the leader of this state, taking the name of Le Patron.

However, the new regime is not as united as it is. Georges Bataille's Acéphale and Charles Nungesser's Escadron forces are engaging in sectarian conflict, as the two societies have opposing views on how the push the Accelerationist revolution forward and bring a new era of glory to France. While the Acéphale advocates federalism, extreme individualism, libertinism and hedonism and the abolition of all antitrust laws; the Escadron's program is the closest the Avant-Garde State has to orthodox Futurism (and to the beliefs of the Society of Ends), advocating centralism, relentless progress, replacement of romantic love with dutiful and platonic love, glorification of speed and the new over the old, anti-conservatism, hyper-collectivism, state-backed child-rearing, militarism as a cure for the world, contempt for women, spiritual unity under the Patron and the fusion of mainland Franks with north African Moors into a new, united French national identity. In the end, Artaud has sided with the Escadron, brutally purging all suspected sympathisers of the Acéphale, Assassin and Templar societies out of France in 1936, a move which secured absolute power for Artaud and Nungesser. Bataille and the surviving remnants of the Acéphale is rumored to have escaped in Mauritania, where he defiantly runs a small rump state.

The Society of Ends later adquired the Kraken, a weapon of Lemurian origin and ungodly power, offering it to the League Solar for military use. The French were planning to test their new creation on Allied troops during a battle, but failed to assembly this abomination of a weapon before the Allies started carpet-bombing French cities and industrial areas.

In 1944, the Society of Ends-affiliated scientist Eugène Schueller started his Surreal Agenda, a program with the purpose of creating an army of superpowered soldiers for the French war effort.
